Clueless management

Why is it that the moment you need an answer, management suddenly turns into a bunch of clueless statues? You ask a simplest question, and all you get are blank stares, vague responses, or the classic “I’ll get back to you” (which we all know means never). How do they not know anything? Isn’t that their whole job?

Because most L3s+ in that place are terrified they'll say something that doesn't align with the latest leadership talk track.

And for the love of god, do not ask them to make a decision. You may never hear from them again.

Everyone below SVP is shaking in their boots rn.

Could be they can’t make that decision.
Could be they aren’t allowed to share the information.
Could be they know there’s a potential legal issue that needs to be clarified before answering.
Could be a policy that keeps changing that they need to check the wind direction.
Could be they just don’t know.

Could be a lot of things. Just depends on the question.

It comes from the top. The Stink is the most clueless of all.

All other mismanagement want to emulate the POS Stink!

What question?

Really doesn't matter.

Have you considered that they just don't know and are flying by the seat of their pants, just waiting for more bad news, same as everyone else?

Depends on your question. If it is policy related, it keeps changing on them - HR says one thing, their Director says another.
