With the merger, there will be consolidation, won't need two sales manager per market/territory as sooner or later the play will be to move to one sales manager that will have a mixed bag of sellers, those selling to Enterprise and those selling to MM, the ultimate goal is to have one seller per sales module/territory, not a mobility seller and a fiber seller, there will be some instances where depending on the size of the sales team a mobility seller or two may overlay to support the entire sales team. Going up the org chart an additional AVP or 2 may be "retiring" and some ancillary redundant overlay positions like marketing, technical support, account managers, etc will be eliminated. This is just a play to lower cost through consolidation and the elimination of headcount, and you would be doing your family a disservice if you're not already looking for new opportunities and applying elsewhere as well as taking an honest look at the players in the new environment and trying as best that you can to gauge how you may be perceived (though past performance is not always an indictor that you'll have a seat at the new table) and decide if you're ready to gamble on a place in the new org structure. Regardless, even if you're going to be part of the new organization, just like you prospect for new sales you should be setting aside time each week to network, continually develop your personal image/brand and look outside of AT&T and apply for other employment opportunities. Good luck

Provide for your family? If you haven’t already been actively looking, you’re too late.

Honestly we are surprised you are still employed to ask this question.

Who dropped the ball here?

These insidious cads are lopping heads across the board. Unless you’re “connected” or considered ‘sacred cattle’, then your (my, our) time will eventually come. Put your focus on what you’re able to control.
