Ford to cut the dividend! We all saw this coming!

https://247wallst.com/investing/2025/03/25/ford-will-cut-its-dividend/

"The Wall Street Journal says Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) will cut its dividend. The paper’s view is that the car company won’t have a choice: “The question isn’t so much whether the payout gets cut, but how much.” The paper lists reasons that run from the financial burden of tariffs to declines in free cash flow to the accuracy of Ford’s financial guidance. On the other hand, the Ford family would take a financial hit, which shouldn’t be a consideration (probably) in the decision."

Not official yet, but for this to get reported you know there is some inside baseball.

All stock holders have now been warned. The dividend was the only thing making the stock worth holding. Sub $5 here we come!

Ford stopped making the Edge in Oakville April last year. The EV program slated to go there was cancelled last year. Currently the plant is being retooled to make Superduty gas trucks.

Company is geared towards
Ford Float is 3.9 Billion shares.
GM Float is around 900 Million.

Higher dividend rate than GM and money flies out the door. Stock is run to enrich the FAMILY, not the shareholder. Hardly ever share buybacks.

20 million plus salary (add sitting on 18 million shares), annual dividend payout of about 8 million plus just for waking up.

Over in Michigan, Ford’s controversial Marshall EV battery plant (a planned LFP battery facility with Chinese partner CATL) saw activity resume on a scaled-down basis. After pausing the project in late 2023, Ford quietly restarted site work in Q1 2024. Ford is in bed with everyone. Even China. But they’ll say they’ve broken up. I imagine trump will come hard when he pays a closer look.

Executive Chair Bill Ford has personally engaged with the White House, and CFO Sherry House stated in March that Ford’s 2025 outlook does not yet factor in tariffs (given the uncertainty). Unprepared for Donny. Feb U.S sales for ford was down 9%. March findings are coming. In fact look at Ford with Canada, Ford’s Oakville Assembly Plant was winding down production of the Edge SUV (scheduled to end in April) as it prepares for an EV retool – a plan on track to begin by June 30, 2025. Ford has communicated to Canadian union Unifor that while some layoffs will occur during the transition, the $1.8 billion Oakville EV investment is still committed. Show goes on in our heads!

Ford’s board of directors approved an additional dividend payout heading into 2025, reflecting confidence in the company’s cash generation. On Jan. 26, 2025, alongside its Q4 earnings, Ford declared a supplemental cash dividend of $0.15 per share, to be paid March 2025, on top of the regular quarterly dividend of $0.15. Last time this happened was in early 2022. Forced gesture to prepare for the worst. Follow history.
