Yes, laid off today after 9 years, Band 8, Security division. One month notice + severance.
Not just Ottawa. Markham too. One manager had the special 1-on-1 with four people today

Unless the notice period is included in severance pay period, which I just googled, should not.
I am a bit confused about the notice period. According to ontario law it is supposed to be 8 weeks if more than 50 people are impacted. Seems like they are trying to rush people into accepting (have to accept within less than 2 weeks) whatever they are offering.

Ontario requires one week of notice for every year, capped at 8 weeks
But Ontario requires 60 day notice, right?

Confirmed. Severance not good, and notice period is only 1 single month. Historically they gave 3 months noticr in Canada, or 2 if i remember.
They’ve gotten cheaper this time around with notice periods and severance.
