Rejected the "offer" to follow the work to Dallas and now I have to fill in commitments? Ok, I can kind of understand that part, what we commit to do before we get surplused. But I have to enter a Development commitment too? NO!

Oh, I still remember those.
Suggestion: Copy and Paste from last year
You don't even have to do that much. I was able to reassign some from last year to this year. Just changed the due date.
Doesn't really matter what you write anyway, they just want the box checked that everyone did the. Same with PLE, the classes are worthless but they want it checked that everyone sat through them.
Don't let the company bully you. You are not required to complete this worthless exercise.
Why am I being made to enter commitments?
Because some guy 4 levels above you decided this is important.
Is it stupid? Yes. Is it a waste of time? Also yes.
Commitments aren't factored into your midyear and end of year reviews. You still have to manually input your achievements regardless of what you wrote in your commitments. In fact, you most likely won't touch your commitments again until 2026.
Your supervisor also makes your commitments irrelevant since they are likely making weekly reports to leadership.
So why do we fill it out? Go ask your elementary school teacher why they had you write random definitions out of the dictionary. It's busywork that serves no purpose other than to act as a time sink.
Dinosaurs will dinosaur. 🦖
Some boomer thinks adding busywork makes employees diligent. In reality, the only thing it does is burn company money.
- Office 5x8.
- attend all local town hall meetings in person and all C4C events.
- Do your mandatory training.
This is all the company cares about.
Suggestion: Copy and Paste from last year (with some tweaks to make it feel fresh) as you don’t want to give any reason to impact severance.
Here you go:
Business
- Complete project xyz before I leave (since it’s almost done anyways)
- Transition work and projects to teammates
- Create a share point folder and move my documents that others on the team may need
Development:
- Find another job
It is a ritual we all have to do.
Do your damn jobs and quit your whining! Signed, Shareholders
Wouldn't you continue to work where you are working while they figure out when to terminate operations at the current location? I would just plod along. I'd be whiling away the hours, waiting for the shop to shut.
I was union though. I don't think I had anything lower than a 60 day notice.
Perhaps you should AskATT for a suggested comment
OP-
You can’t enough make this stuff up. 🎡🎪
No one cared about your commitments prior to this.
Surprisingly they care less now.
Because senior management is too lazy, or doesn't know how, to cascade goals.
Dallas is miserably hot in the summer.
Don't do it, they can't force you, you have your rights.
Given that is takes all of 5 minutes, I sure would have a lot of fun with that Development commitment if I was you. Get creative, LOL
You are expected to document your job before leaving.
It’s comments like these that constantly reaffirm to me that the people who are positive on T are
- Not actually employees
- So low down on the totem pole that they have no idea what any of this actually is
- Mentally disabled.
The commitments have always been fluff given to your org that you just paste in, and development thing like “going to learn x new technology”
None of it has ever had anything to do with documentation related to job responsibilities.
These boomer shareholders who are retired need to get the fu-k off these boards.
You are expected to document your job before leaving.
No one cares. Check the box and stfu.
Dallas is awesome in the summer!
Not the brightest bulb at a Yankee Stadium night game are you?
You don’t need to do anything. You’re a zombie. 🧟 the undead. a ghost. an apparition. The only time anyone will even know you are there now or acknowledge you is if you fa---d. Enjoy your countdown and freedom.
