Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

Just a thought on Leadership

It’s impossible to overstate the sheer dysfunction of the leadership at Crown Castle. The directors, VPs, and senior managers operate in a constant state of chaos, unable to keep a single concept straight without overcomplicating everything to the point of total collapse. Their decision-making is erratic at best, and at worst, it’s a complete disaster—disjointed priorities, knee-je-k reactions, and a total disregard for structured execution. Instead of fostering clarity and direction, they create confusion and frustration, leaving teams scrambling to make sense of their ever-changing demands.

And then there’s the standout example of toxic leadership—the worst of the worst. This individual’s management style is a masterclass in incompetence: micromanaging every detail one minute, then being utterly absent the next. Their leadership is driven by paranoia, unnecessary pressure, and a complete inability to provide clear, actionable guidance. Instead of empowering their team, they break them down, fostering an environment of fear, distrust, and burnout. The result? A demoralized workforce stuck in an endless loop of firefighting, with no real progress ever being made.

Crown Castle’s tower leadership isn’t just bad—it’s actively destructive. Not going to happen but until serious changes are made at the top, expect the dysfunction to continue. You all deserve better. Cheers

Wow! These are my thoughts refined and expressed perfectly! That’s exactly how I feel about my entire department. My manager—and everyone above them—are completely incompetent when it comes to work, experience, and leadership. Over the past year or two, it’s been nothing but stupidity, incompetence, and fear.

It’s honestly depressing to even talk to them—they never have answers, only more questions and problems that somehow always get pushed back to you.

Never in my life have I written a negative survey or review about my team at work—but this one might be the first. And the worst.

I honestly wonder what pills they’re taking to stay so calm and chill all the time…

The worst part? They can’t even recognize when we’re doing a good job—because they have no idea what a good job actually looks like.

Smell that? That’s the sweet scent of better days coming! Honestly, I haven’t seen this much energy and excitement from folks in a long time. The town hall lit a spark—it had the info, the honesty, and the heart we’ve all been craving. Then came the changes—real, unexpected, and exactly what we needed to believe that leadership is listening and finally seeing what we see. You get us… and you’re getting it right! Hang in there, the clouds are parting!

I’m a leader! Have I led before? Nope. Do I have experience in the area I lead? Also nope. But does that stop me? Absolutely not! My VP thinks I’m amazing—because I tell them I am.

Sure, my team constantly corrects me because I don’t know the terms, frameworks, or, well… anything. But that’s fine because I make sure they agree with me anyway. And if they don’t? Well, I gently remind them (with the force of implied consequences) that saying “yes” to me is always the best career move.

Now, if you su-k up to me and treat me like a visionary leader, I’ll have your back. Promotions? Support? You got it! Actual expertise? Overrated.

Crown took a chance on me, and look at me now—leading with confidence, authority, and absolutely no qualifications. I think it’s great here!

I will never forget having a pool of money for raises, spending hours allocating them across 10 people, with honest well thought out reviews, and not only having that money taken and given to the mgrs cousin's team but my $$s as well. Our team blew KPIs out of the water. Met goals that had NEVER been met and the cousins team didn't meet one. That's when I quit. After working there for ten years. i was warned not to go near the team but felt i could make an impact and did. Big mistake. Crown has lost a ton of high performers to bs. Complete unadulterated bs.

Used to watch A sup and one of their employees run a private business all day (best friends from highschool) and that was ok because the sup's boss was their cousin. They were thick as thieves and treated everyone around them as a threat. Went on for years and still to this day. Crown is a snakepit.

"IT USED TO BE LIKE FAMILY" smh. That's because it literally was family. Literally. That's the problem. Crown couldn't grow successfully because no one w real business experience was permitted to succeed due to the nepos protecting their positions.

Sounds like Southpointe. You forgot the endless meaningless powerpoints and meetings for mgrs to pat themselves on the back with their powerpoints.

I’m getting paid to lead with no experience and I love it. When I mean lead I mean sit and do nothing but let people who report to me threaten people because they don’t have experience so it’s the best way to lead with our knowledge or experience, fear. Give me time for my side businesses.

Watching the people who do the work get treated like sh$t is making me sick, too many evil leaders left over from LN’s rein are self important and destructive. Even have people 0% raises they just got in their org because they felt they made too much and didn’t want to reward that. Seriously? Let’s talk about what you make for leading groups you have no knowledge or experience to lead and you don’t lead but we all make sure things keep working while we deal with your bs. It’s disgusting what is going on!

Took a fat buyout in 2023. Thank God as I had drinks with friends who still work there and they all hate the current culture. It used to be like family, now just corporate chaos. Sad...

The only good leader in DBS is JA and the people who report to her, the rest are described above and get away with everything.

It’s so out of control especially those left over “strategic transformation” left over consultants who DO NOTHING but try to destroy people. VP and directors who su-k up to them just to stay relevant and keep their overpaid pay checks why they bully and torture the people doing the work. It’s BS at its finest level of dysfunction!!!
