A bunch of former FP&A folks from the Lake Mary office have been applying to my company. Did Verizon just wipe out of the FP&A team at Lake Mary?

Wait is J.R. at Applebee's now? Hope he's ready, that place is no joke. They are strict about washing your hands.
All I can say is when 10 years later, FP&A still doesn’t agree on a RACI document and the leaders don’t know who’s on first between all the overlapping finance teams - it wasn’t a transformation. It wasn’t the art of the possible. It was a catastrophe. And the power hoarding and infighting among the executives at the top are to blame.
It’ll be a promotion for some, going from Director of FP&A to Executive Grill Director.
A bunch applied to my job as well, and now there's talk of hiring them and downgrading me from grill to windexing tables. This is never good.
J.R. struggled here as well. I didn’t work with him too much, but he seemed like another outsider in over his head.
@ee+1jqhvaqg0 Interesting, any word on what he was demoted for? He's already struggling here.
J.R. Was demoted a few years back and chose to leave as he was basically stuck.
@dn+1jqhvaqg0 when they can't pay you in dollars they pay you in title as in banking and insurance where everyone is a vice president of something but can't afford to buy a house.
The problem with the Lake Mary Verizon resumes is that everyone is a senior manager, associate director, director, senior director, or executive director. No wonder they are cutting, seems like everyone is a "leader"! How many senior managers and directors can you have? We want no more resumes from Lake Mary as it seems like title inflation is rampant.
We have actually gotten so many applicants from Verizon's Lake Mary office that we've told HR to filter out these resumes. We don't want Verizon 2.0 at my company.
None of these people specialize in telecom and view Lake Mary as nothing more than a stop along the way in their careers. Decent people with absolutely no connection to the company, culture, or customers. Many Fortune Companies have done similar which is why there are so many FPA jobs available there but no experts in telecom finance. 'Centers of Excellence' was just another way to cut costs planned by a former CFO to locate high paying metro area jobs into lower cost areas of the country. You get what you pay for and the company under this regime never seems to get it right!
Re : Post ID: @cw+1jqhvaqg0 . People don’t talk to each other , they just go and post online instead of having a real conversation.
if they are applying for jobs, you could literally just ask them.
very fake post.
Accounting and FinOps teams have successfully centralized their operations in Lake Mary under competent leadership, achieving role clarity and direction. However, the FP&A team has struggled, resulting in high turnover. The Basking Ridge leadership undermined the Center of Excellence (CoE) model and attempted to sabotage it, with one of those leaders ironically now in Lake Mary. The FP&A organizational structure is confusing, and leaders have encouraged infighting among teams, creating a toxic environment that has driven many employees away. There is a lack of accountability in the finance department, and any superficial attempts to address the issues are likely to be outsourced to PwC to protect senior management.
If people being laid off from one company being applying at another and likely getting jobs what does that tell you. One company hiring worthless people from a company that deemed those people worthless. Congratulations.
The head of Verizon FP&A at Lake Mary just joined my company, initials J.R. Looks like he fled.
