Is it just me or does it seem like they're trying to make things miserable so people leave on their own instead of being laid off?

I have had two manages at us bank and they are the worst managers I've ever had. Toxic people, that have no idea of the meaning of coaching or teamwork. They drove me nuts as remote. I have no idea what my life would be like having to work in the same environment. Gaslighting, gossiping, undermining, triggering negative behavior. Horrible folks. Carma will get you. You might have won the fight but you will not win the war
They're effectively giving us a pay cut by increasing our expenses when inflation is already high and making our lives actively worse by forcing us to commute and spend our days in a sh---y office. Seems like a decent theory that they're trying to get people to quit.
Absolutely a means to try and avoid severance payouts
Management at USB strives for making happy employees miserable. It's their goal. Crushing productivity and happiness where they find it.
I cant tell if the executives are pushing us away or pulling us closer to ourselves...
One of the many ways corporations try to avoid large layoffs: Find things to make people quit on their or, or things they can say that an employee's position has been 'eliminated'.
They are trying to avoid paying severance since they also promised the government they won’t lay off any UB people as part of this merger. Playing dirty.
