Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

30 day net -> 90 day net -> 120 day net

Well, we are ki-ling ourselves with supply chain and how we are treating our vendors, under the leadership of our wonderful CEO.

We have many small companies that supply critical parts to support manufacturing and some do want to do business with Medtronic anymore. Why??? Because we shove down their throats 90 day net payment terms on POs when they have had 30 day net for many years. I heard we are going to move to net 120 in the future. Good luck with that.

To make it worse anyone submitting a PO has to spend a lot of their time as a middle person trying to get the vendor to accept 90 net terms because of Global Supply Chain won’t budge!!!!!

Then when Global Supply Chain gives up and allows 30 days net, they don’t pay until 90 days. Some vendors are holding material until Medtronic pays now because they violate their own terms.

On the positive side we are highly paid admins. How many times have we stepped in the same po-p pile? Seems like we exceed the extraordinary in stepping in po-p.

Purchasing anything is a pain at Medtronic. What do you mean “Then when Global Supply Chain gives up and allows 30 days net, they don’t pay until 90 days?”

Did you fill out the exception form and sourcing approved the net 30? Did you send the approval to the buyers? There’s steps in between that need to be complete for AP to release the payment within 30 days. They do pay on time as long as you follow the steps. However, for the last few years sourcing has been rejecting any net 30 exceptions.
