Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

I'm absolutely willing to let myself be fired over RTO

I don't care anymore. I will stand my ground. If that means I get fired, then I get fired. There are still available remote jobs, it shouldn't be too hard to recover. What I will not do is allow this company to drag me back when the majority of the world has moved forward.

I'm curious to see what the consequences will be for choosing not to go to the office, since we ostensibly have a choice. I have team members who were told when they were hired that their role was remote when they were actually classified as hybrid, and others who were assured before the moved to a new home that they wouldn't have to come in. They've already had a hard time filling positions in my department and we've lost a lot of people this year, so I'm curious what this will actually look like when push comes to shove.

I understand and respect the og poster's stance and confidence in finding a new job. For some people, RTO will be a deal breaker.

I'm classified as hybrid and currently feel differently. When I was hired, it was for an office-based job. I drove to the office every day before the pandemic. I paid for gas before the pandemic. I paid for childcare before the pandemic. I didn't think twice about any of that. So am I upset, not really.

Yes, this will certainly hit the pocketbook. Yes, commute will eat up time that I usually spend working instead of driving. I will have to adjust back to life like it was before.

However, I decide it isn't what I want I'll look for a new job. That's my right. Just like it's the company's right to define what my job is.

Maybe there is also a plan in place for a cost of living increase. This Biden economy is ki----g me at the pump and supermarket.
