Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Personal information

Ladies & Gentlemem. I would advise spending some time before Tuesday transferring personal information off your company drive & e-mail. Once you have been notified of your termination IT will freeze your account almost immediately.

Bumping this from @ej+1jr3mttt6 to make sure more people see it. This is golden advice.

The company has no legal obligation to return any personal files to you. If you read the acceptable use policy, it says right in there that you should have no expectation of any personal content to be returned when you get laid off. If you're d-mb enough to keep a bunch of personal data on your WORK computer then too bad for you.

You can request USB storage access through selfserve although this might not get approved and there might be a delay getting access even if approved.

You could try less-known 3rd-party cloud storage services that haven’t been blocked by IT.

You can email documents to your personal email. My preference would be to create a password-protected zip file to send as an attachment, you will need to install an additional tool such as 7-zip to add password protection. If your files zipped up exceed 10MB you will need to span the archive over several files and send out the segments over several emails to stay within the sending limits.

Also, don’t forget to download information from Workday: payslips, compensation breakdown, etc.

I work in IT and this poster is right, they will disable your account, lock your tablet and your corporate phone. If you have personal data, email it home before the layoffs!
