Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Contemplating taking Medical Leave

I am mentally not able to function and perform my day-to-day work duties due to layoff stress and seriously need to take a medical leave.
Any idea about medical leave benefits at Intel and how long can I be on medical leave? I work in a CA site. Do I need a note from my doctor? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Medical leave won't save you if your number is picked. Friend of mine years ago got redeploy on medical leave when on chemo.

Grow a pair! Get off your a-s, get your resume updated, and start interviewing. You’re stressed because YOU are not doing anything. Don’t rest your life in other people’s hands. YOU can do this but you have to start. Get going and best of luck!

you wont get a full paycheck and you will make yourself a target for a layoff on your team. Cash in some vacation time and go on a trip or something. I was stressed about it too i have anxiety issues and take medication ( PTSD Veteran ). Another thing to do is talk to your doc they can prescribe you something to take some of the stress away. But going out on medical will not be what you want, I can assure you of that. Vacation or talk to your doc for a pill or have a couple drinks is the way to go.

Lay-off Stress? Are you kidding me. This is what’s wrong with Intel. These are the people we need layoffs to get rid off. To many soft people employed here

Try some over the counter Leetcode. I heard it helps with financial stress better than even many prescription medications.

Not intel specific, but… CA requires you to buy STD insurance. Covers 6 months of leave at 80% (I think) salary that isn’t taxed. Pretty sweet.

IIRC, Intel has a pretty comprehensive HR site with all the policies and procedures. I’d read up in that before engaging management and esp. HR. (HR is NOT your friend. They’re there to protect the company.) get all you ducks in a row before going to them.

You will need a doctor to authorize your leave. I went out on MLOA in 2020 from a different company. Used the time to find another job.

Considering you situation I would keep your HR rep and manager in the loop. They should create no stress environment for you. Intel offers short term medical leave just get more info from hr

try doing some calm or headspace meditation , in general tell your manager that you need sometime off to take care of something unless you want to go on long medical leave , depending on your group everything should be clear in next couple of weeks, note there is always life after intel.
