Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Holy cr-p - 45Q Act Repeal

If you don’t know - that’s a US law which gives tax credits for carbon capture - which is its only revenue source at the moment.

carbon capture industry would be gone overnight. zero profit. and shell bet so much on it growing lol.

To the troglodyte talking about “scams” like acid rain and the hole in the ozone layer; the reason they are no longer talked about is because steps were taken to counter the causes of these issues. NOX and SO2 scrubbers dramatically cut down on acid rain and banning of CFCs by nearly 200 countries stopped the proliferation of the ozone hole. Go su-k on your F250s tailpipe if you’re not concerned about pollution you simpleton.

i can link you dozens of videos of warren and charlie literally saying they believe oil will be relevant for another 100 years and that’s why they invested in oxy, mr smug

you won’t find anyone from berkshire taking oxy CCS seriously. at best, they think it could bring 1-300 million a year in government credits which is nothing compared the billions a year in oil and gas revenue.

once again, CCS crew shows up to act like the government printing money for them means they’re valuable to somebody

it’s certainly been really interesting to watch everyone act like berkshire hathaway is foolish for planning their portfolio with the idea of mass oil use for 100 more years

Shell should move to the US. I really believe Shell is being held back by the political correctness that has overtaken Europe. Oil and Gas have shown that they are hard to replace and probably will continue to show high consumer demand for the next 75 years. Solar, wind, nuclear, and fusion will be helpful on the edges but we are probably a long way from it being able to provide even 75% of the energy needs of the planet.

Would anyone be surprised if a country that is 37 trillion dollars in debt said "no" to blatant malinvestment like this?

If this were a real investment, it could stand on its' own two legs, and would not be dependent on government handouts.

If it can't stand on its' own, why should taxpayers be forced to subsidise it?

Like most introduced legislation, it will probably go no where. Which is too bad. Shell should be using the money from trying to develop these carbon silliness projects to develop more and large projects. Hopefully the green scam is over but, I forgot, which scam are we on right now? 70s- earth too cold we will all freeze to death, and don’t forget acid rain. 80s- hole in the ozone and icebergs will melt flooding the earth. 90s can’t remember. 2000s- global warming, 10s-20s- climate change and carbon BS. See a trend here? The scam is never ending

industries that only make money from government handouts shouldn’t exist.

if you want people to do carbon capture, then you should fund public research on making profit from captured carbon instead. then you can open source that and have an industry overnight.

Do you work for Shell? If so, why take lol joy in a development that could have negative impact on the company? Need to think things thru more carefully - or is that not your strong suit??
