Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Manufacturing sites closing

I worked on quite a few of these projects and we usually have to sit on this information quietly for a few years before sites close. I know of one that still hasn't been communicated to people, and is delayed while the transfer of production is arranged for . It's a fact, not speculation.

Anyone want to guess?

@11r+1jrfr6rt4 Yep. It's 100% the Montreal site. I had to work on that one for a while. Production is going to PR and has already partly gone.

You sound like a legend in your own mind talking. Get back to work and hush up.

People working in those sites would know-production moving away from them is not an immediate action: there would be parallel production in the old site and nee site for some time. Good luck to those who would be impacted.

The Canada site. That one has been going on for years.

Well Hyderabad India has a lot of open positions in engineering. I guess India is safe. It is ridiculous that GM and his cronies are outsourcing good paying jobs from America.

It has been confirmed that most Irish sites will be hit hard. I have overheard from higher up, that Trump has given Pharma notice to get their house in order. Background work has already started at a number of sites along with a number of Medtronic mergers and acquisitions of US & Asian companies that will be announced over the coming months. This is laying the groundwork for a the migration/transfer/exit of products/manufacturing out of Ireland. Production is to be scaled back to European and Asian markets.
