Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

People don’t Quit Jobs

I am not sure how the rest of AT&T is going, but we have people leaving left and right, good people, people with tenure. I guess upper management is good with hiring id--ts so they can talk down to them, to make them feel superior.

If someone would be brave, they’d warn people about what’s happening on LinkedIn especially after McSelfish’s diatribe of disrespect.

Hiring is hot at AT&T India. Growing big time.

"I keep in touch with my friends in my group & they are miserable.”
Why be so mean because the poster stays in touch with friends? Not everyone hated or hates their co-workers!

“I was laid off in December, was not asked to train a replacement. Users are frustrated. I keep in touch with my friends in my group & they are miserable.”
You should consider getting some grief counseling.

Any news on the next round of union personnel being laid off in June? I'm waiting for my notice to leave the company with my severance pay and a huge smile!

“No one has replaced me. No one has picked up my work since they don't know how to do it.”

Get some therapy and move on with your life. AT&T has moved on from you.

I was laid off in December, was not asked to train a replacement. No one has replaced me. No one has picked up my work since they don't know how to do it. Users are frustrated. I keep in touch with my friends in my group & they are miserable & say place is a cluster f***
No surprise.

Yup, seeing the backlash of getting rid of people who actually know wtf is going on. Apps and teams with no managers and people who don’t know what is happening replacing them, or the role remaining open while the backlog gets larger and larger. But thank goodness we’re building out this “culture” to prove what’s really important!

this is the most important thing. The company is way way too big. Even IT is like way too large. Nobody cares about IT anymore. If we want to lower the prices for internet and phone plans, then we must cut IT like fast and hard.

OP - I doubt talking down to an id--t makes them feel superior. It probably hurts their feelings.

My boss is good, for the most part, I’ve had far worse and had better, but my jobs su-ks. So leaving due to the job and senior leaderships is terrible.

A lot of employees leaving were really just retired in place still on payroll and phoning things in. T needs innovation.

I would have moved to Atlanta if I had a good boss and his boss was good to him. But, neither fit the bill. Also, Atlanta s*cks, so there's that

There's a saying, "People don't leave jobs, they leave bad managers."

It's true.
I've left jobs where I actually really enjoyed the actual work itself, but because of the toxic work environment perpetuated by inept/evil management, I jumped ship for more promising situations.

C suite bonus formula is: headcount reduction without severance / total headcount reduction. They are getting rich from your misery.

People leave jobs if there are greener pastures elsewhere. That's been true since forever.
