It is not anonymous!! 2 years ago a coworker wrote about a toxic work environment and HR contacted me (my answers were more general but we clearly had a toxic group). I said “I thought the survey was anonymous?” and they said they can investigate any issues and identify who submitted the survey, I have to take it, my manager nags the cr-p out of us until he sees 100% participation. I try to be constructively honest

I never participate. It’s a witch hunt. And don’t believe it when they say it’s anonymous. Hah! Right! Everyone is traceable, via logon ID and ip address and likely other things too. Def know they are given demographic data, which makes it pretty easy to narrow down.

The perfect definition of “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t”. Three potential actions and their outcomes-

Don’t take survey- direct manager/team is negatively viewed as not engaged as a result of low participation rate

Take survey, be honest- direct manager may get thrown under the bus for poor ratings, upper management won’t take accountability for issues caused, may be forced to undergo painful “action planning” which ignores the root cause of issues

Take the survey and just lie and say that everything’s fine- direct manager is spared from scrutiny, no target placed on your back, but nothing changes and you feed into a disingenuous system.

I took it and rated it good because my team is small and my mgr has it in for me anyway.. but guess what it didnt make a difference. Im still being treated bad even worse. Others still scored down a particular obvious area that is seriously lacking. It is just a tool to get rid of people, not fix problems.

The only way to send a message is to NOT participate. Can you take it and tank the ratings? Sure. What will HY do? Blame you and your immediate manager for executice failures and then torment/harass you with their hair brained plan to "fix" it. It happens every single year. I will not be taking it. Last year they su-kered many employees into doing it. Don't fall for it, people!
