Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Hostile Work Environments Within AT&T

More Teams are claiming assignment ownership of groups of drop-in workstations, refusing to allow employees to use them even when their own Team is not using the open workstations. Obviously one could ignore those trying to block access, but that only exacerbates a already hostile situation. Is there any single information source to either confirm legitimate seating assignments, or to report intimidation and harassment related to seating? Webphone does not show any such assignments for this location, but I do not believe this is isolated to any single location.

Some desks became available today. Be more careful what you ask for.

I won't play this lord of the flies sh#t. If you want my reserved room then take it. Don't let this company turn us against our neighbors. Most of the time if you are cordial, the other person will realize rhe foolishness of the situation and politely leave.

Our newest hire is less than a year out of college. She was happy like a puppy when she arrived. She was given a taste of the real world and became bitter toward AT&T when she saw the person who trained her being surplussed.

In my new job a guy used to come around and just take a desk. First time I told him that 1 was reserved by my Boss and he move and gave him desk reservation url b/c he hasn't been around in awhile I guess. Next day he took my desk and splayed his bag and notebook etc onto desk I grabbed next to him. My Boss asked me about it and I said I don't REALLY care but I know I lose some respect around office so yea ... he definitely knows how to secure a desk he just doesn't care about our Team or me and honestly most obnoxious office behavior I have seen. Haven't seen his face again. Not saying he got fired... I don't know ... but is true haven't seen him again over over on this side of floor anymore. I Love my Boss. She takes care of sh$t like Leaders do. Even when I don't have to ask.

Never have a problem finding a desk, usually in the same area day after day. How does this make the work environment hostile?

I love that that's your power move, the "dirty look". You're an embarrassment. Upon receiving said "dirty look" I would ask SO LOUDLY, "IS THERE A PROBLEM HERE??...:
and your head would snap back down so quickly. Bunch of pa----s.

Let’s look at this from a different perspective. What gives the OP the entitlement to claim any of those desks, either? Are you in your designated office, or are you stopping by an office convenient to your home and hoping to snag a desk there? If not, then stand your ground or have your supervisor speak to theirs to allow them to make room.

The reason for the hostility is our Corporation has decided to follow the Musk policy of be the first to arrive, the last to leave, spend the night at your desk, sell your soul to the CEO to prove you want this job more than you want a family, and they MIGHT let you keep your job.

“and above everyone else, and taking them the f-k down a few levels. It wouldn’t be pretty but it would be fun.”

Just remember that if you raise your voice to them they can fake cry and claim that you verbally hurt their feelings. You need to be more crafty and do what I do. I wait until I feel a giant sneeze coming and sneeze in their face. Then I laugh and say sorry.

I would love to come visit them and have them point out the head of the snake. I love taking someone that thinks they are so f-king special and above everyone else, and taking them the f-k down a few levels. It wouldn’t be pretty but it would be fun.

You did have the power the whole time. You just had to learn this lesson for yourself. After all, there really is no place like the office!

There’s an entire section of drop in desks in Bedminster 1425, second floor where some group thinks they own it. They even put little name tags on the cube “DROP IN, but usually occupied by x-x”. It’s so embarrassing for them, it’s like some mini cult. And they’re nasty as can be if you try and sit there too. Is this living the intent?

I can not speak for all locations but at ours there are more then enough seats at the moment. At first it was sketchy and uncomfortable musical chairs daily but by now we have all found a seat and we respect each other and whom has been sitting at the same seat for some time. We also have a map of neighborhoods outlined and we sit with our own teams so we can collaborate and not have to play hide and seek. At first it was bumpy but now we are all in lockstep for the most part and respect one another and their claimed a seat. It was in our control all along and it seems to be working. Occasionally a straggler will come to the office who is either visiting or does not come to the office daily and will try to take a seat when it is obvious someone is already sitting there as their coat and items are in the room but the person is in a mtg with their laptop. We all give these folks a dirty look as they know someone is sitting in the seat they have taken but they are just being difficult as there are multiple empty seats they can take.

Alpharetta. Group was walking around claiming desks and areas. It’s drop in, no need to ‘claim’. One lady was sitting working and after passing by her desk about 3 times, one of them commented “oh she’s working” welcome to the big top CIRCUS

CRE does nothing to fix this. There’s been numerous discussions and complaints, but for some reason leadership encourages claiming one of these “drop-in” desks as your own by leaving cr-p behind. I actually don’t know why they still insist or calling them drop ins.

I walked the floors for 10 minutes looking for a desk. That should have been time already logged in and "on the clock". I took 45 minutes of Me Time as compensation.

One thing to be very careful of. If you're arguing over a seat with someone and they say "Put your hands on me again and see what happens" do NOT put your hands on them again. They can literally unalive you and claim self defense.

And get half a million in their gofundme as well apparently.

That is not what the law says. Texas penal code Sec. 9.31.

I have seen this in Bedminster with the offices and folks not reserving. One known person to do this is Mike W (not going to mention his last name), but rhymes with tree hall. He never reserves and then never will leave his office space.

About to be a lot more desks available after May 12.

All I can say about those arguing and fighting over desks, I’m in Lenox. That’s about as bad as it gets. Most days I can find a seat coming in at 9. Yes I’ve had to sit at break room tables, on the floor, stairwell, and there’s always the cafeteria. I do find a seat most days.
