Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Why

Why must everything be a disaster. Nothin works, every process every task Is trash.

Why are we doing this???

Why destroy a what was a good business to make it this toxic environment where customers are mad and employees don’t give a sh-t anymore.

If Lumen wanted to change its ways why we wouldn’t keep stepping on our toes might as well just close the doors and turn the lights off

You don’t like it leave……

Found a Level 3 person. No! A lot of us feel personally affected by the garbage CEO that forced himself into the helm of Lumon, only to commence the largest layoff in CTL history & also the largest money grab from employees transferred to execs that has ever happened as well.
He brought nothing to the table except left wing politics & division while robbing us blind.

"No degree here. Just an old phone guy who’s enjoyed 31 years of a very profitable career."

Okay, so your life timing was good...great for you and your career!

For the persons whose life timing came at the expense of technology: the corporate push of "higher education" and the complete saturation of IT fields!. Good luck to you's!

No degree here. Just an old phone guy who’s enjoyed 31 years of a very profitable career. My experience could get me a job tomorrow. My LinkedIn gets a few hits a week to splice fiber anywhere in the country. From Florida to Texas to California. All for more than i earn right now. Albeit just for the money. Not the benefits included. So my no degree experience could get me an average 12k plus a month. Pretty good for experience alone eh?

No, the game is not over. You are dealing with the affects of the game slowly coming to the end! This dismantling has been the plan all along and is in the stage of: battling for attrition. There are 3 types of career workers here: 1) able to retire and milking every last dollar out of this. 2) college newbies that will take the experience on the resume and move on as they know there is no such thing as a career job any longer. 3) the in-betweeners who have very little choice (ageism; education restraint; family needs; wage crippled etc..) but to ride this out and hope they make it close enough to retirement without having to job prospect ever again.

It is a sad, sad state of the world when you look around and see what your technology degree and experience gets you in today's market! Wish the best for all but many of us know the "best" is not a very high bar in today's world.

Because Lumen wants to be "the trusted network for AI". LOL. See, made you laugh.

“We need new sales. More customer adds “. We’re playing to win”. Feels like we’re just like our saying. Won and d-mb

Why you can’t manage the customer after the sale

Fix the problems before taking on more

Simple migrations don’t even work like DIA and voice over our own products
In stalls locations for large projects without consideration install time frames, then pushes billing live and bills customer when they can’t use

How is that helping???

Why would a customer ever buy any thing else

This management is delusional on what our world customer feelings are in the field are not feeling it. In fact they’re considering getting away from us

"Is that company wide, or just for the techs?"

Company wide. I know a few other companies that do this. One of the past companies I was with had a 30 day retention policy.

What’s wrong with Lumen, is what’s wrong with western society in general,

I’m incredibly grateful that I was close to my grandparents who were survivors of the Great Depression and shared the lessons learned with us grandkids. Seems pretty obvious to me that Hard and difficult are times are coming for us all! Regardless of where you work! We’re on a crash course that began some time ago, Lumens behavior is just a symptom!

“ My question is if an employee XYZ does sue after losing job and employee ABC signed the dotted line to keep quiet by taking severance does that hold in court if they are under oath and called to testify. That piece of paper would mean nothing.”

If an employee (ABC) is needed to testify in XYZ’s case but has signed a NDA, the judge in the case can simply dissolve the non-disclosure so the employee can testify without ramifications.

Nothing the company can do about it if that happens.

Did anyone see they are deleting call logs, side chats, teams conversations and links etc.etc on 4-26-25. The joke is what call log Lumen is already forwarding all calls to overseas trying to force people to quit or worse sc--w up so they can fire them.
I have never worked for a company that said they would delete all of this and reason was so if we got hacked the hackers would not have personal info. It’s like there is a glass wall and they think everyone below And on other side of wall is so stupid. Their problem is they are not stupid and much smarter watching Lumen ki-l itself. Keep track, maybe even reached out to an attorney for advice.

I wonder if one of these times enough employees were able to call all this out to media and the Union. There is so much there and many mistakes made and if people on lower levels sees them thats bad. I get why they want to cover their as--s because they have so much to hide by deleting anything that could hurt them in court. Think of all the lies, coaches etc give wrong info to agents, agents talking between each other (if AT&T or ??) wants transparency they’ll miss all that and only see the call going off shore and why there no need to the US remote workers. Heck they don’t even have vendors pick an easy US name to say. I feel bad as not their fault but if their first name is half the alphabet how heck will customer remember that. Customers are pi---d.

Lumen did good with Quantum Fiber and it looked like the right people were in charged….WRONG. They brought In friends fired others and wanted money over basic human life and needs. None of them have a backbone to call ethics etc like we are told to do—another joke. Call, complain, and within 4 months the power at be will fire you for whatever. Even a Union President Agreed to this and also knew of several situations.

Coaches, supervisors, and above all know what’s going on and maybe not know all of it but they are ones make sure callers go to vendor call centers then lie as if they truly believed all customers are happy and we don’t do that BSSSSSSSS. Karma people.
It is so sad to sell out on your integrity and lie . If just one or two honest people ( which yes if anyone had the ba--s and a big enough d-ck) would stand up and say based on religious beliefs you are not able to lie etc. If fired no way you can’t win. Enough people do that and also call ethics AND call, write, post post post all over social media, contact the Unions, cr-p even Trump since he is against jobs overseas. They cannot keep fu--ing with good hard working people all time and also the public. I would love to see like we do at election time —qf ad or commercial followed by—an independent from current, precious customers and employees all saying don’t believe this. The FCC confirming the corruption in the leadership. This company is selling out the American people firing, laying off making work environments so bad people have to quit.

My question is if an employee XYZ does sue after losing job and employee ABC signed the dotted line to keep quiet by taking severance does that hold in court if they are under oath and called to testify. That piece of paper would mean nothing.

From my perspective.. the company should stop telling Pots and DSL customers who are still on Copper that that they are a “valued” customers,

seriously why are we still seeing installs for 1.5 meg service, techs don’t want to install that because it’s an automatic case of trouble once the customer try to use it!

Employees in Repair and the business office keep making promises to the customers that the technicians can’t provide, what’s most aggravating is that there are customers who take Quantum fiber for Internet but refuse to move their Voice and to this day Repair is still issuing tickets for the copper voice in order to appease the customer who’s threatens to disconnect their service all together if we try and migrate them over!

It's 2025. Lumen have been milking copper for way too many years.
Qwest, CenturyTel, and Embarq should have never merged. They should have went their own separate ways and figured it out on their own future.

The SLT wants to chop this place up, sell off the pieces, and parachute out. Also they implement policies and procedures to get people to quit so they don't have to fire them and pay unemployment. I'm numb to it all, just want to fatten my 401K and ride it out until they say "game over" pardon the pun. And with everything so heavily based on metrics, one does not need to do any "real work" to meet metrics every month. And if you try do dig into an issue, that ki-ls metrics so why bother..Its' damned if you do and damned if you don't, so take the easier road.
