Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I'm getting so tired of younger employees complaining

Here's the thing, you signed up for this. Yes, AT&T's a mess now but nobody tricked you into joining. The warnings were everywhere if you’d bothered to look. I got in when it was decent, but you walked in eyes wide shut while the rest of us saw the dumpster fire raging.

People keep getting treated like disposable garbage because fresh recruits keep lining up. They'll only change when their hiring pipeline dries up. But nope, that's not happening and here we are.

It’s not just younger employees. It’s everyone.

“ Because they work, and are productive without constant hand-holding of "collaboration"?
Because they think "going to work" is a good thing and not a punishment?
Because they do not need cry rooms or cuddle puppies supplied to them?
Because they figure out how to complete their work without needing hours of meetings?
Because they know that 8 hours or more per day is a normal adult work day?”

Literally the definition of a boomer right here. Get your ancient head outta your a-s you old fa-t and realize that the whole WFH/hybrid policy has changed dramatically since Covid. It’s too bad that you haven’t accepted it and are ok with the Stink going back to the pre-Covid routine. Majority of American companies are still hybrid and that’s the future as we all learned that efficiency was best displayed with flexibility during the pandemic, not spending 10+ hours in commuting and wasting gas money and time.

“As someone who was new to the company 2 years ago I was most certainly oversold on something that was not realistic. They paint to new hires that you’ll be a director if you come in with experience in a matter of 2 years or so. Told me how great the culture was and then I got here like what is this?!?”

Lying to TDP and new hires is standard operating procedure.
I loved it when I was TDP as well, super chill, tons of benefits, good company activities (paid drinks out with co workers, top golf open bar, paid lunches, in office game day, company paid parties and trips, etc)
Then you graduate TDP and they stop giving a fu-k that exact same day.
Everything goes down hill.
Culture is toxic, you spend your days wondering when you’ll be laid off, forced relocations, time tracking, etc etc etc. it never ends.

They lure you in to capture talent, then fu-k you when the market is down.

They’re snakes man.

Most boomers in our group struggle with word and PowerPoint. Never mind the real tech stuff that they just don’t know. But everyone gives them a pass because, well, respect for older people. One day some young person will have to help us all. You know what I see boomers doing? Coming to the office and hanging out for 8-10hrs per day, maybe doing some stuff here and there. Mostly just sending some emails or updating some ancient process that nobody really cares about anymore. They don’t have near the meetings or responsibilities of the younger folks. Sorry if that hurts some feelings, but seriously look around. Enjoy the easy money you’re getting, I don’t blame you, but don’t act like you’re still relevant or superior.

Read the room OP, this is a site for employees to air their grievances against the company.

Don't come here bashing your fellow employees, it’s not a good look.

Boomers have had the easiest life of any generation in history and still have to stand on it like they had it so hard, like it’s even comparable to today.
You rode the biggest bull market in history and you’re still not retired. GTFOH and retire already so we can go back to WFH and be happy. We don’t actually need you. You’re just so self centered that you think we do. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Just helped a boomer to figure out his pending assignment for 3 weeks, which needed couple of clicks.

Boomers think they don’t need collaboration then why they come to office , they can work from home.
