How much money did Ascension Technologies save after outsourcing?

I'm not sure how much they actually saved given they are bleeding cash on expensive contractors and consultants. Even if they accept nothing getting done keeping the lights on isn't going well from that aspect. The financial statements are available online and the last one I saw from this summer indicated the year over year savings in staff costs didn't come close to the increase in purchased services costs.

Dollars saved? Possibly millions nationwide, but what is the cost of having virtually every system including EMRs being in suspended animation for over a year? Nothing new built, few breaks fixed, most help desk tickets ignored? I know very few still there, but I do know I receive emails monthly wanting to know if I am interested in a temp position and stay as long as you want. I know though that no temp WANTS to stay more than a few weeks or a month.

That's a really difficult one to quantify. If you are looking at just salary and benefits, they may have saved a bit of change.

But then you add in some of the intangibles. Not only did they not save anything, they likely really lost a lot more than they ever thought they were going to save!
*Staff turnover for those that stayed for a while then left in the months following The Great Layoff, because ultimately, they no longer trust leadership to not take more massive cuts. That staff turnover is cost is huge! Rehiring costs, training costs, and just overall slowness for the new hire vs. someone who was there 10 years and knew their way around.
*Hospitalists employed by AH who leave because they are not being heard on the IT side and are tired of constant IT problems leave. Physician recruiting is not cheap.
*Delay in implementation because your outsourced offshore resources ALSO have two other gigs they are working simultaneously, so they take much longer to get the work done.
*Provider dissatisfaction, where providers not associated with AMS get pixxed off/fed up and refer their patients to competitor facilities.

I'm sure I could find more ways they lost money. But need to get back to work at the job I got when I left AH (and love it! - grateful to not wake up every morning wondering if Gagan Singh is going to lay me off - again)
