NRE Policy is a Huge Red Flag

The fact that we have the NRE program is a huge red flag and clearly indicates that age discrimination is a HUGE problem at ExxonMobil in general and specifically in the ranking program. The only reason a company would have an NRE policy is as a last line of defense against lawsuits. NRE program is the PPE so to speak. Clearly there are many holes in the Swiss cheese and rather than addressing the issues and adding additional safeguards the Company is depending on PPE to prevent an incident!

The hate in this system is so bad where I work that we’ve collectively informed last year NRE’s how to get the PIL and are purposely doing it to get them 3 months vacation instead of just letting them declare retirement first. Pfuc this corporate caste system.

I would venture a guess that it is this attitude which results in your low performance assessment. It is not age discrimination, it is a reflection of your loss focus, willingness to learn, and to embrace change. Time for you to leave!

Well as an NRE who was ranked excellent until I turned 50 I can tell you that age discrimination is real. I am now ranked NI and have been told I was dropping relative to peers. There is a invisible push for us oldies to leave. Everything we do is scrutinized and micromanaged. I am glad they have this policy because I would be sc--wed out if my pension. I have worked long and hard for this monster exxon. Lots of unpaid overtime and technical innovations. It is a slap in my face to be ranked so low. All I want at this point is to retire and leave this place.
