Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Fear based management

Ever have a supervisor put a same day meeting on your calendar with no agenda under the guise of organizational change?

Just to tell you someone else in the org is impacted by layoffs (not you), yet this made you feel uneasy all morning and frankly finding out it’s not you getting laid off doesn’t relieve the feeling, either

This is a fear tactic that is used to make you feel insecure about your employment here and force attrition

"Most managers follow preset scripts and never deviate from the surplus workflow."

They don't have a choice.

Fear based management? What are you 17 years old at your first job at Target? Nobody cares about what meeting is scheduled anymore. I always show up 3 minutes late just to make the point that I don’t give it a second thought. You men must really take back your mental confidence that you have freely relinquished to them. Stand tall and confident. Live with honor and conviction and see clearly that your job here is just an ATM machine. Show up, do a little dance, and cash out. Fear belongs to evil and has no place in your mind and heart.

Yep, I had a Manager once tell us years ago if we did not get a call by end of day we are safe. Then around 4:30PM he proceeded to call everyone on the Team and ask us if we were worried that he called us? Only to then say we were safe. Sick stuff.

“My boss calls same day meetings seemingly just to see who’s around.

Late afternoon team calls are smart.

“ The orgs have “managers”, no leaders.

The entire corporation is devoid of (true) leadership. Those who could lead are stifled & kept on a short leash. It’s a dictatorship…and a tyrannical one at that.

The orgs have “managers”, no leaders. The “managers” are POS, lack any integrity, no inspiration and drink the Stinky winky cool aid. If I speak to 10 employees during the day, EVERY “worker” is stressed beyond belief.. are still here because we need to job, paycheck ,, and suffer when we see colleagues abused and laid off..
never in my career have I’ve ever seen such weak, pathetic, narcissistic, gas lighting “bosses”.. again there is no leadership. Sadly the few LEADERs are then “progressed” to get them out of the way from the teams.. and a “manager” boss put in place. Sad, pathetic.. and as Stinky and gerbil su-king Jeffweeeeeee,, it’s ALL about shareholders… and the stock is here.. by cutting costs, employees and remains inefficient.. no innovation.. and Magenta is shifted from “challengers” to becoming champions. And guess what… Slick Randall funded the TMo growth.

Sort of. My boss calls same day meetings seemingly just to see who’s around. She hardly ever has anything to share, and apparently doesn’t trust the presence reports either.
