Leadership Programs

I got nominated to ELP program with few other colleagues. Does this guarantee anything in EM world based on current situation?

Just enjoy it and have fun! Go out with your cohort and get drunk every night, enjoy the all-expenses-paid vacation on company time!

The person who said that they use the class to identify hipos is full of $hit. That isn’t how it works.

It is one of the many smoke and mirror games they use to make those who aren’t hipo think maybe they could be. Giving people hope when there is no reason for hope is perhaps the cruelest game they play.

It's not that exclusive, thousands of employees go through it. It guarantees nothing for your future.

Signed an employee that took the ELP is fu---d all the same

You are guaranteed to have a weeks worth of catch-up when you return to your base organization. Good luck planning that - if you fail they know you can’t handle a real crisis as this one is well planned.

I also tell my subordinates to read every assignment well in advance and be prepared to answer all questions. Instructors will cold call on you and they report back on how you respond. There are also a few seasoned mo--s attending that will pick out the top 10% to be championed for HiPo. You can probably figure out what happens to the other 90%, they will be PIP shortly.

EM doesn’t give boondoggle training courses without a purpose. You have to be playing everyone and always looking over your shoulder especially from different organizations within the company. This is the brutal truth.

You are a je-k to even consider that stupid thing as some sort of success.

No guarantee.

Because for you to even ask means that you are not ready to be a leader. Not yet.

Just count yourself lucky for being selected. Hopefully you will apply what you learn. Many at Exxon don’t.

You get to hold it over the heads of the people thst have been managers for years yet have never been selected for any of the leadership training.

So you got that going for you.
