Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel’s future is all but certain!

I told you all those years ago and here I am to tell you it again FUBAR!!

There is a reason you got a fanatic religious zealot as CEO. No rational tech executive would touch the job even for 170M. And what is the strategy, IDM and IFS. It is like the dying Dinosaur say T-Rex’s day is coming again.

Pat is lucky that the pandemic got him a few billion but with a recession Intel is still noting but the T-Rex after the meteor has hit. Extinction is all but assured..

Baring global war with CCP invasion of Taiwan and destroy both the east and west economy for a decade, Intel is dead. Even that. Intel incompetence would be laid bare as they do T have leading edge node, or legacy node, and I competent manufacturing compared to to eastern foundrys.

Look at the post from @OP+1jsNOgdp
Profit / Employee
[1] Nvidia $527,000
[2] TSMC $353,000
[3] Qualcomm $217,000
[4] Intel $181,000

Compare the efficiencies of the Foundry like TSMC making chips for the lines of Nvidia, Apple, AMD, Qualcomm and Intel to Intel’s sorry a$$ profits as IDM+IFS at how uncompetitive they are as a manufacture of chips. Remember they make silicon that Intel forgot how to from twenty years and make money doing it too!

Compare Intel to a design house to see additional how sad they are compared to AMD, Nvidia, Qualcomm and of course Apple as to how lame they are now.

No more Wintel and x86 to protect their incompetence!

The funniest thing is that Pat actually has convinced and sold you lambs all such a fallacy.

All the BS about chip supply chain is ridiculous hoodwink to get some billions from id--tic politicians but changes nothing.

Of course if TSMC and Samsung can be as incompetent and repeat the same failures of Intel for a decade along with their partners Apple, AMD, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Google, Tesla, Microsoft, intel has a chance. You think these trillion dollar companies and their manufacturing is laying down and being stupid and arrogant like Intel?

Nah, layoffs and losses are all the future holds for Intel

I agree with your statements for the short term. Your statement "Baring global war with CCP invasion of Taiwan and destroy both the east and west economy for a decade" in my opinion is exactly what will likely happen in the next few years. Watch the news, global stability is not going to improve any time soon.

Intel is having a horrible year but will still generate well over $60 billion in revenue. It is just not as much as greedy investors want. I agree that Intel management has largely failed the company for the past 2 decades. Few companies in any industry have the dramatic swings between good and bad times that Intel has had since it was founded. Few companies have the layoff history that Intel has. Both of these things are examples of poor management.

The Chips Act is another example of poorly written legislation without the necessary guardrails in place to ensure the tax dollars actually benefit tax payers. Unfortunately, it is needed to keep the industry afloat and Intel is the only semi company in the US that can scale to the potential future demands. It is a shame to see Intel reduced to a welfare recipient but here we are.

Hopefully good will come out of this it just won't be evident any time soon.
