I get that experience matters, but when half the team shoots down every new idea because "that's not how we do things," how are we supposed to compete? Feels like fresh perspectives get treated as threats instead of opportunities. Maybe it's time to stop clinging to 20-year-old playbooks.

I'm no longer there but I remember how slow Exxon was to adopt to having a PC on everyone's desk. And then, many years later, an employee had to have a VP-level approval before Internet access would be allowed on their desktop PC. For all I know, it may still be that way.
Our management are only allowed to read out of date and discredited business books. That is why all out practices are always behind.
We’re behind on all IT software because the MC is scared of their own shadow and won’t move to any cloud-based solutions.
If you suggest something new, they will likely pretend that they are Promoting Innovation. but the so called leaders squirm on the inside because its not their idea. the whole concept of a leaders role being to promote their direct reports and others and help them climb the career ladder is nullified in Exxon. And it is accepted by the so called leaders at all levels. simply to get paid.
so thats what you do, just get paid and dont bother about this place. your stress and family’s lofe is just not worth it. what can be the worst that happens? you will still have a home, someone to go to and human ability to rebuild — it might be a good things actually.
dont let these leeches become your ideals, the more time and energy you give them, the fatter they become off your blood.
Isn’t this done to deflect and self preservation. Remember what drives this place is the PDS. One thing I would like to state about the past. Folks who have been give opportunities over others due to a sponsor or politics. But what I find funny is that sponsor is gone or has been found to be a non performer any way?
We are at least a decade behind the rest of the industry for all IT-related software.
As one senior executive stated, "We spend a billion dollars on integrated SAP software and our Vice Presidents continue to run their global business units via Excel spreadsheets.
So many of the older people in emtec are like this, afraid of new ideas or trying anything. It's pathetic.
That's exxon for you. If the idea is not the bosses it won't fly. If the in crowd does not like it it no chance. Exxon is sc--wed. You will learn to keep quiet and hold your tounge. Save your ideas for another company that will use and appreciate them. I use my ideas for my outside company. There is no hope at exxon for smart innovative people. Exxon likes zombies and lemmings. I got on trouble for criticism about how long it takes to implement new analysis technology. I was told I was making the screeners look bad. The supervisor said the processes at exxon were the most effective, efficient and best in the industry. Remember no criticism of the loonacy at excon.
