Thread regarding Ford layoffs

How will the skinny Ford Motor Company be?

If the bottom 50% are cut and the top 50% are kept across all levels but done very fairly, the company can actually function well. The problem is they will remove the good ones and start hiring again as the remaining ones (friends, family, yes-men, yes-women etc who can't be touched) can't deliver anything. This company su-ks and will never improve.

@OP. More like cut 20% of GSR, and 90% of managers.

Michigan needs to check the companies that talent in the state go to. Ford should be on the block list for certain erratic behaviors that have gone unpunished from adults behind the wheel

Younger folks with in-demand skills but without families and “roots” in the community, will jump ship if things look unstable and those are the people the company needs to keep around.

Also, with this instability (and yucky MI weather), Ford will not be able to attract the “best and brightest” for low wages. They’ll get the mediocre and malcontent.

Ford has really dug themselves a hole for the next upswing in the economy. They’ve given themselves a horrible reputation as an employer and they’ve forever excluded the pool of ex-employees that were fired because their “skills and experience” were not needed at the moment.

By the way, you know how insane that is? Some guy loses his job because he doesn’t have the right skills and experience, gets a job at a supplier and goes back to school at night and gets a graduate degree, an Ford has forever banned that guy as a man employee. That’s just insane.

This is not the first or last round of cuts. The company will go on and not look back. 350 people from one area is a blip on the graph.

Not sure that cutting literally half the company is going to fix a lot

The problem is too bad of the low level leaders. The only thing they did is to push and comment. They sc--w everything.
If those guys got fired, I am sure Ford would be more better.

No one has the guts to remove anyone from "friends, family, yes-men, yes-women etc who can't be touched" group. If they try they will be gone so fast. This group will leave only if the company goes out of business. Until then they will milk the company really well. They are a huge burden to the company.
