Legal help for waiver signing?

Has anybody here contacted a lawyer to evaluate package and waiver?

@170+1jvcbam9w this comment feels tone-deaf after reading what I would categorize as a an early warning signal to a cultural reckoning in the wake up thread

I am 56 years old with 24.5 years of service and was offered a separation package with 9 months only. If separated now before reaching 30 years of service. My pension will be reduced by nearly 50%. Should I contact a lawyer. Please advise

Maybe the 12mo severance person was underpaid to begin with?
I've never heard of any company adding a clause banning re-employment permanently as a condition of severance. 1-2 years maybe but for life sounds unnecessary. But otoh I think most of us will outlive this company at this rate.

Yup. contact Megan at mbonanni@pittlawpc.com. she was part of the lawyer group who sued on the 2019 and 2022 cuts. she could not help me for other reasons but she has a ton of experience in dealing with Ford cuts.

no, i do not get a referral bonus or anything from her.

I was laid off also last year from another OEM. I could not sign the separation papers fast enough, I just wanted to close that chapter quickly and get my package. Fast forward, recently I had a chance to talk to a lawyer friend who gets contracted by companies to prepare separation packages. I was told you should negotiate since the package provided is what they think you are worth and will accept right away because of the situation. And if you have more years at the company, you can always ask for more. It still cheaper for the company than to go thru litigation, both financially and company reputation.

What is the reasoning of them banning you from working for Ford for life? I don't understand that part at all

The waiver is pretty standard, they give you 2-9 months salary, based on years of service.
Health insurance stays 3 months, after that COBRA or marketplace.

The only thing that you might have want to care about is, they ban you from working at Ford or supplier for life, and it does not depend on signing the waiver.
So might as well take the money.

The only thing I am not sure about is, whether they pay you until end of May and then X months severance, or the second paycheck of May is including the X months severance.
My "firing manager" told I'd be paid through end of May and plus severance, but so far I don't believe him.

Yes 12 months for 4 years of service completed. Instead of getting angry at me, you should negotiate for what you are owed.

Calm down everyone, I'm sure they was a typo. Top level of severance is 9 months.

I reached out to employment lawyers. They wanted over a thousand dollars to review the agreement. Only thing worse than Ford management are lawyers.

If it helps I was with Ford for 4 years and got 12months of severance pay.
I was happy with this and it seemed generous considering what i read online.

Have you used the online severance calculators as an estimate of what is expected? Not the government ones.
