PTO

Does anyone know if we're entitled to earned vacation days, not yet used, if we quit?

When you leave the company HR asks how many PTO days were used.
If you used more (prorated) at the time of leaving, they will withhold overused portion from last paycheck.
If you had some left over you will not get those paid. Unless you retire.... Not quit

This may depend on what state you're in. Some states have labor laws that say any unused PTO or Vacation have to be paid out, other's don't.

Your PTO only counts if you are still working.

When I quit I was paid out for PTO prorated based on how much of the calendar year I worked

No, PTO is only for active employees so if you quit you are not longer active. The way to do it is to take all your PTO and then quit. A fun little fact….if you “feel sick” (aka have a really big day and don’t feel like working it all), you can call your manager and tell them you are “sick” and as long as it’s less than 4 hours you don’t get docked and it doesn’t count towards your PTO. Not like I’ve done it 🤪. If your boss asks for a dr note or anything of the like, tell ‘em “sure thing, once you send me the written policy that it is required”! Hahahahahaha! If you are gonna be there, POKE THE BEAR! Let em fire you, it will be without just cause!! Collect unemployment and if you are up for it, hire a lawyer and let ‘em settle for ya! So darn fun!
