Thread regarding Ford layoffs

If you are in customer service yes you are work from home but you are chained to the chair.

There are too many stats, AI watching and too many alarms to even get up when you are not supposed to. And if you are in a certain call mode too long they I’m you to make sure you are ther and to see if there is an issue. So I do not know what kind of work from home job you other people have but when I get off work I feel like I just got out of some kind of prison for the day. Though I have never been in prison by the way.

That is what I remember working in a call center 15 years ago (before AI). Chained to the desk (via headset) for a 10 hour shift. Supervisors asking why you're not in the queue, need you in the queue, etc. Having to ask for permission to go to the bathroom, needing permission to go on breaks or lunch, always 30-40 calls holding so working without breaks or lunches etc. Customer service is truly he-l.

Another thing we have the AI watching to make sure we are not just sitting idle at our desk. You cannot just move your mouse. You have to keep clicking with it or typing. Whoever tried the trick of putting their mouse on something that kept it moving while away from their desk can’t do that anymore. But if you take calls all day you have to be at your desk anyway.
