How are we allowed to sell aka: stack insurance on cell phone and HTP, home tech protection in COR stores on customers accounts and there not even an insurance agent ?

When I found out they put a $15 a month plan on my 85yr old father’s basic phone, I moved all my lines to Verizon. That is just predatory. They had already convinced him twice that a new phone required a new line. He trusted the store employees.
As a former rep many customers never knew it was added when I went over their bill. Also, we were coached to "save" customers money on part of their bill and then let them know their new plan came with all this mobile and home protection. Managers, ARSM, Directors mostly shady and unethical.
PMO Legend Here! Great question. The army of lawyers told us we can’t call “Mobile Insurance” because we are not selling insurance, but instead selling “Protection” services. By law, AT&T cannot pay commission on Insurance, but they can make employment conditions based on “Protection” features and fire employees who refuse to sell an increasingly more expensive feature that has an oversized deductible.

It's not really insurance. It's a service plan or extended warranty marketed as "insurance".
Insurance is regulated by each state, extended warranties and service plans are not. Regulated insurance is a specific list of items, like auto, home, medical, liability...
