I got another contract job(joining is next week). but, I don't want to give the notice and miss the severance pay. Considering this guys laid off many of my colleagues, I just want to get the severance without telling about my new job. How do I do it?. I have been asked to relocate to N.J. any suggestions?

Don’t wait around for your severance pay. I (and many, many others!) got robbed of any package. After 15-30 years, you’d think they would reward something. Nope. Our upper level manager made sure our department wasn’t paid a cent. Sad really.

Also, you got another contract job implies that you were a contract here too. Depending on the contract terms they may not lay you off but choose to wait and not extend.

It is extremely unlikely that Frank will lay you off in the next week. It is possible, but extremely unlikely. I guess you will have to start greener pastures without a severance payout.
Take your remaining R&R and We’ll Being days off; this will buy you some time.
