Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Has anyone ever come back from a PIP?

I'm not on one, but a coworker was put on a PIP and decided to quit without even trying to fight it. I personally don’t think it was deserved and he shouldn’t have just walked away, but that’s neither here nor there. I’m just curious, if you’re put on a PIP, is it basically a guaranteed firing at the end, or do they actually give people a real chance to improve?

I am on corrective action and called ER. My manager literally made stuff up on mine. ER said fight it because it’s not that uncommon for managers to put someone on corrective action without cause.

For someone to be put on a PIP you gotta really try to su-k at your job. Either that or the manager despises you for some reason.

No one comes back from a PIP. Even if you did you'd be a lame duck! HR coaches managers to design the PIP so it is impossible for you and to panic you into asking to be released. Fido will then give you 60 days to look for a new job with the promise of not contesting unemployment. If you take the PIP they make sure that after 60 days if you don't pass, you will be fired and won't be able to claim unemployment. That's how the PIP game is played.

I've seen a number of people come back as decent performers and a couple get promoted later on. All depends on the person and if they want to be here. Depends on the manger and how bad they're doing too.

Certainly not Wally Pip. Dimaggio filled in for him one day and that was it for Wally.

Ya don’t quit- you won’t get unemployment. Make them fire you.

How does one gets put up in PIP at fidelity?

No offense but how much does one need to badly perform to deserve PIP?

I was single handedly carrying a team and was resentful of people I had to deal with:
Never video on during calls.
Never in office (permanent WFH)
Never available for weekend support.

Yet, after a month or so they're running things for which I worked my a-s off to put a foundation

I do know at least 3 men who came back from a pip. Once I had to put a woman on a pip. She wasn’t on track to meet the requirements of the pip halfway through, so HR gave her the option of leaving at that point with severance and she did.

None of this was at Fidelity, but generally I think it’s better to stick it out while looking for another job, instead of immediately quitting.
