Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Chaos in KY, SLC

Too many folks about recent off-site.

Is it true people are asked to relocate to Boston or quit?

I am in wealth KY and worried

SLC is seeing a ton of growth right now I don't see any forced relocations happening here. Morale seems pretty high as new teams are being added and manager positions along with it. It's not even possible to get everyone to return to office in full since there physically isn't enough space for everyone to be here at the same time! I think this is at the expense of the Albuquerque location though personally.

@a6 can confirm, in order to live within easy commute to office on the T, I paid over $1M for a small apartment. Rent would be $4-$5K. This is not the time to be trying to buy a home in the Boston area, and traffic is a nightmare if you have to drive, with parking almost $30 per day.

you won't hear anything from the greedy firm. They love to NOT communicate by sending out any other news they can find. You're going down the toilet fast so hang on or you'll get flushed too.

Because the leaders are bunch of pricks.

They want to make sure the associates feel pathetic, so they quit and fido avoids bad press.

Roger / Ames started this BS and with Bob taking over it will be even more chaotic.

Fidelity just can’t be honest to their employees anymore.

All chapter leads and level 8 or above are bunch of snakes

Also in wealth ky and worried. Haven’t heard anything. 6 or so months ago when wealth came up with co-location, we were told there were no plans to ask us to move. They just would not hire anymore in Cov for our roles. Certainly not a good feeling to be restricted from other positions in your BU because of your site.

With Bob taking over, not sure if that will change the focus on co-location. Why are Wealth and Brokerage so concerned with co-location and WI is not?

Boston is expensive compared to COV or SLC. It would be a pay cut because salary won’t keep up with the cost of living. Cheap rent is easily 3000 in boston. No one can afford to buy a single family house. Get ready to spend 1 mil for a shack. Don’t uproot your families just to probably get laid off when they don’t lose enough people through natural attrition and have to actually make the decision that they are putting off because they don’t want bad press.
