Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

RTO has stripped my team of talent and skill

As someone else pointed out, many competent people have been leaving in droves. Given that the “best leave first” pattern has played out at every company that’s pushed RTO mandates, it’s hard not to think this was the goal all along. And honestly, you didn’t even need examples from other companies to see it coming. It’s clear they’re no longer willing to pay for experience, knowledge, and competence. It really makes you wonder what corporations are even about anymore.

Some markets around the world get more than 5% in a savings account. Literally better off doing that in every way

Yeah the 15% -> 10% -> 5% is pretty offensive.

I baked in the stock discount to my decision to take the position here when I started. I know it's not much, but it's clear that the company stopped valuing the employee right around the First Data "acquisition". The reduction in stock discount is a quantitative example of that.

And yes, RTO has su-ked. My productivity has gone down because I've lost significant resources that allowed me to work faster and smarter. These aren't people who were remote due to Covid, they've been remote for years. In many cases they were hired as remote workers.

I wouldn't be surprised if less than 5% of the remote workers moved to continue working for Fiserv.

@as+1jw6yntmy Fu-k that, 5% is not a real discount on this junk. Used to be 15%.

I think the "best" in the "leaves first" concept is a misnomer for many of the people who leave and an insult to the people who stay. Who tf are you to determine who and who isn't the "best"?

Some people see opportunity in the departures. Others are biding their time for one reason or another. And others are trapped by the clever bonus plan that pays them in majority stock. Fiserv has then by the ba--s, and to free those ba--s, they'll have to walk away from a lot of money.

Stop accepting stock as part of your compensation packages and buy stock on the free market. Fiserv can keep their rinky-di-k discount.

Are you sure there was a time when there was talent and skill? Most of the sh-t here is atrocious.

They’re about short term shareholder value, that’s it.

They’d happily sack all of us tomorrow if they thought the stock price would go up.
