Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Why more layoffs and failure are certain with IDM/IFS

Totally broke strategy and no amount of execution will resume intel

1a). Technology leadership arrogance that Intel can do four nodes in five years. The track record of LTD is an F. No way they can match the execution of TSMC.

1b) Technology leadership arrogance that they have some competitive edge on engineering, tools or other secret sauce over TSMC or Samsung. TSMC and Samsung buy more tools and chemicals than intel and will get all the same know how as Intel if not more given their scale. Taiwan isn’t CCP nor is Korea so no blockade or preference, it’s all business for the them. Korean and Taiwan engineers far more committed and dedicated than western engineers

  1. . Even with government funding intel will never be competitive on cost or technology compared to TSMC or Samsung. RD in the East is cheaper and engineers work harder than those in Oregon. Manufacture in US will be at best same and can’t compare to the scale and cost advantages. Intel will never reach cost parity.
  1. . Customer base and volume gap. Intel has x86 and a few test chips and nibbles. The foundry do a billion SoC and count Apple, AMD, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Intel, Tesla as high volume customers, who does Intel have just Intel. They are so screwed on volume, ecosystem and scale. Sorry the DoD as customer what a joke!

Barring North Korea iCBM and CCP invasion/blockade Intel has mo chance. If either CCP or North Korea go postal Intel ain’t in any position to save the technology world and everyone in the west can kiss all their electronic gadgets goodbye!

Intel should spin-off TMG to US government and focus on design. Look at recent product running on inferior Intel process to see they still can design, manufacturing forget it.

“Intel should spin-off TMG to US government and focus on design”

I do think this is in the cards.

Intel has no idea what their problem is, so they have no idea how to fix their problems. Spending billions to build fabs to build more chips no one is buying is complete arrogance.
Intel can no longer build any chip that is not riddled with bugs. It now takes Intel over 5 years to release a new chip, and still goes out the door with hundreds of errata.
Intel will never return to their dominance, their reign has ended years ago.
If you still work for Intel, you should begin looking for your next job, you do not have a future with a dying company.
