Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Colocation, high hiring #s and layoff

Amidst all the reorganization cr-p which has been going on for 3 years now, fidelity headcount has grown by ~5k.

With Boston seaport unable to accomplish current headcount and NC already at its peak, there is no way Fidelity can handle everyone back in the office, even alternate weeks with current headcount.

The reorganization and restructuring should be an indication of how Fidelity wants to g-n for organic attrition by saving themselves from paying severance.

And with recent push towards colocating and asking people to uproot their lives, it's yet another torture tactics.

@bq what if you say no to relocate?

If they ask you to relocate and you’ve been there for more than 10 years, it’s not a good sign.
They are hoping you’ll say “no” and move on. If you do relocate, they’ll let you go within a year for other reasons.

Fidelity is no longer even good at internal marketing.

Never ever relocate for a job. I watched around 2012 when folks were asked to relocate from MMK to NC, only to be laid off about 8 months later. Imagine uprooting your family's life, selling your house, buying another one, and then being let go less than a year later. Horrible.

FIA were asked to relocate to MMK.

Folks in wealth at SLC asked to relocate to Boston.

Folks in Brokerag wealth at Boston asked to relocate to NC.

Glad we don't have an easy way to travel to Mars yet, else these mo--nic leadership would have associates relocate there.

Do you think they care about their torturous behavior by having the associates live in an environment of stress, anxiety and uncertainty???

The ever declining pulse survey was a big indication of what the associates were going through, which they took away.

Fidelity seems to ask the right questions but never wants to hear the right answers or act on any feedback.
