Enough with the weeping and hand-wringing. You’re getting paid to walk away from a place that probably drained the life out of you. That’s not a tragedy. That’s a win. Some of us would ki-l for that kind of exit. So take the check, take a breath, and try seeing it for what it is: a rare stroke of good fortune.

@ev you aren’t guaranteed that 6 months if they relocate your job to another state.
I live in NJ. I’m guaranteed my severance of greater than 6 months. They can KMA
“ Job market is beyond rough right now.”
Thanks to the traitors in DC allowing in all these H-1B usurpers, mass outsourcing & DEI policies which artificially prop up those who couldn’t cut it otherwise (based on true merit).
@ab curious what market you are in? I got mine as well as an ASM
@b6
Exactly people just on here saying anything.
A hard earned severance for a laid off event rewards you a happy ending.
@a4 I’m telling you some of these people are insane as he-l and will cry for eternity while the job market is trash. If they think being laid off without a job lined up is grateful, then they’re so fu---d lololol. At least for me I’m tryna find a new job before I dip cause I ain’t stupid
“ Manager told me that the next round they are going to scale back the severance by a lot“
No, he didn’t. Because your L2 AD wouldn’t have that information even if it were true.
Which it isn’t.
I'm a tech and would love to be told, *your last day on the payroll is June 27th!" I'm wlling to test the job market cuz T is just plain awful! I can no longer tolerate management bafoons that act like T is humming along like a Swiss watch!
Job market is beyond rough right now. I’ve been applying like crazy for the past several months, only had a handful of interviews. The entire tech industry is in full cut mode. Best way to find something is use your network. That being said, idk at this point. I’d be happy to move on, but man, 6 months from now post severance, I’d be really worried.
Got my notice today, off payroll June 12th. I'm 100% OK with it. Manager told me that the next round they are going to scale back the severance by a lot. With my years of service I earned my severance, and honestly i'm happy to take my lump sum pension because I got a bad feeling that they are looking to offload or find a way to reduce their liability for that as well. I'm going to kick back and migrate my at&t services I got wound up in.
Until you realize after 6 months of job hunting to where you cant even get hired at Ross as a stocker that you would love to be back getting that life drained from you for the steady paycheck.
Until you realize that this is the biggest $hit hole on the entire planet and that even a 30 percent pay cut working at another company is a vacation compared to these s c um ags.
Grab six months unemployment and six months severance and grab a squat on the beach and thank the good Lord that he freed you from this place.

Pos around here saying you should be grateful are NOT the same people that are out there job hunting in these sh---y times right now.
It’s been over two years. Be glad, not sad!
