How can this company recruit in good faith, knowing it's a sinking ship. No one should be considering working here, and any one staying other than long term employee who are close to retirement is a FOOL.

@m1 Indeed, Walgreens does treat its employees like trash but as an earlier post pointed out, people stay for various reasons. Depending on one's experience and level of education, its not always easy to find something else. I expect the Sycamore deal with its huge debt load will result in job cuts on various levels and will eventually force people out. Personally, I'm ready to retire but curious what's going to happen after the buyout. Who knows? Maybe I'll get a paltry severence out of it.
I'm sorry. This company relates its employees like trash, rewards them with nothing, and demonstrates nothing as to how it will improve in any way. Literally the Titanic....and everyone is just staying in their rooms while it sinks...
I do not think it is reasonable to expect people to walk away from a job. Even if the company will close most (if not all) stores, it doesn't mean that everyone is better off simply leaving right now.
There are many short term reasons as to why a person would work at a failing company. I encourage you to ask people why they are working for the company. I have done this and I have received many answers which display an understanding of what is important to that person right now and what is it they are looking for right now. I don't think it is right to just give a blanket statement that is supposed to apply to everyone all at once no matter what. That doesn't seem true to what reality is.
There are a lot of fools with so many excuses...you are so correct.
Go look in the stores and see what they are hiring. It's the ones that no one else will hire. That is a fact too. Prove me wrong. Actually you can't because I know. Embarrassing and to pay them near what some make for being at walgreens for a few years and not bumping their pay up...is pathetic. But people make choices to stay at walgreens, truly unreal.
