An enhanced offer of 5/5 and $10k would be a drop in the bucket if it accomplished the goal of offloading unproductive, overpriced workers quickly and cleanly. It’s a tool that’s been used many times before and given the current state of affairs, is very likely to happen again.

Just laying you off would accomplish the same end game but cost a lot less
Relax, the layoff numbers aren't going to be as bad as everyone thinks! Unless you're on this website, you're not ever thinking about layoffs because you're blissful in your job/career and thinking only of the future with AT&T and completely oblivious to the possibility of layoffs! It's this website that is making people think about and worry about being laid-off! Try not to come to this site anymore and just do your job cuz everything you read on this blog site is nothing more than rumor or wishful thinking, anyway!

The old AT&T would have given severance packages, but not the SBC ATT! They don't do business like the old T did, a little more compassionate and generous. This SBC culture is relentless and doesn't care about its people. Good luck to all personnel that will be impacted by any form of layoff.
No offer last year. Just stripped benefits and let those who didn't like it walk. Now I'm back as a contractor and my lump sum is with a financial advisor.

The only “enhanced offer” will be whatever your severance is. Nothing more nothing less, and refuse to take a 30% haircut on my lump sum hoping this happens sometime in the near future. Full disclosure: I’m almost 61 with 42 years, as always YMMV
I think those of you waiting on an “offer” that will never come and on this pension plan being impacted might want to get someone to advise you on how much money you’re going to be losing by staying. Do the math. Most folks that are impacted by the pension change and have done the math are leaving.
As a supposed Tech watching monitors & CNN all day at the Dallas, Tx. Switching Control Center sitting all day, drinking water with frequent restroom breaks answering an occasional telephone & monitoring selected individuals telephones - Why would I want to retire? I have a well into 6 figure income for doing nothing. I'm staying until they wheel me out in a body bag.

Op is talking about bargained employees! Not management with a measly 6 months severance. An incentive offer for “old timers” would not cost anymore than a normal layoff.

Stankey himself, when asked in 2021 if there would be an incentive to retire offered, replied that the “offer” was giving advanced warning of losing pre-Medicare subsidy if you don’t retire by year end. There will NEVER be incentive offers again.
