Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Do Surveys Really Matter?

I’d like anyone to tell me some
Positive outcomes from previous surveys.

CSO put out a survey as well and are already upset that only about 20% did it. I know that percentage because they sent it out saying we need more participation and extended the deadline. As typical, it's not so much as what you say because they don't care, but how many people do the survey.

They don't even believe what you say because after the last one, Baich even said "I don't believe the result for one of the questions".

I had a VP Alex Parker share over a video call to all employees. “I never read more hate comments my entire career than about MSOC. We are stopping it now. Not tomorrow or end of the week. Now “.
You could hear an applause across the entire center and I heard it was the same reaction everywhere.
To be fair it was BellSouth days and he was run off after the acquisition from AT&T.
BellSouth recognized leadership and helping our employees. These traits are punished for with our toxic yes man / woman culture we have to be polite too we wish would NEVER visit.

Don’t be a fool and fill out the survey. If you do Stinks got your number and you’re on the layoff list as soon as HR can file the paperwork.

Just took mine. Gave honest no bs feedback. I guess that’s one way to volunteer for surplus. No I don’t think they do anything and you will likely get targeted for retaliation. If they are bad enough then the results aren’t released.

Do you think the organization values your health and wellbeing? How about H € £ £ no

Yes they matter because without these surveys there’d be nothing for employees to wipe the butts with in the T employee bathrooms.

"The caregiver leave policy was one of the changes from the employee survey."

Mmmm -- I believe that was also the year they took away 3 vacation days and the retiree medicare bridge.

"At another company early in my career, people at my level gave poor feedback. Instead of addressing the real issues - no bonuses at our level"

Yes, like the Dilbert cartoon that joked that the annual bonuses were tied to the ratings from the employee survey.

After the 2023 survey, we had pack up or get out. After 2024, we had 5 day RTO and surveillance reporting You tell me if these things are valuable.

At another company early in my career, people at my level gave poor feedback. Instead of addressing the real issues - no bonuses at our level, low pay, inexperienced managers etc. we mainly had tedious where we were we should fix the issues.

These surveys only exist so that leadership can pretend to give a damn.

Nope. All the 2nd levels chat to try to figure our who said certain things so they can label that employee as a detractor and then retaliate by withholding pay raises, give them the work that no one else wants to do, or just lay them off.

I don't know if T has tried this or not. The results can be used for things like "great place to work" certification. The surveys I participated in overwhelming criticized a certain tool used in our section of the Company. No action was taken by management after the survey results.

I am certain there may be a few exceptions, but for most companies

Surveys do nothing but:

  • allow manglement to identify those who are not towing the company line or drinking the Kool-Aid
  • Exist because of the whole engagement thing to make the employees feel valued and appreciated when they are not

I have never seen any substantive change come from surveys. Even during the more generous "work/life" balance era of the previous regime, little change came from the internal surveys. Change happens when the company can no longer get or retain the talent they need. That is all they understand. That is why DAL was upgraded to a higher pay scale than ATL.
