I’m a campus hire with less than <2 years of experience. Is my POT still the default? I was browsing this forum and read that the potential setting procedure changed, so that all new hires are now at the default until their fifth year. Is there any truth to this? If so, is hi-po culture dead?

If you aren’t a hipo in the first couple of years you never will be. A lot of luck involved. Helps to have family connections. Helps to have gone to the same school as your sponsor. Very little to no tie to merit. Also remember a high ranking doesn’t turn you into a hipo. Not the same thing. Hipos are ranked high but a nobody can also be ranked high. Also the leadership training doesn’t make you a hipo. They have a lot of Mike and mirrors in place to make you have false hope. Some supervisors even lie to people about their ultimate potential to make them feel better about themselves.
The first year your are not ranked. After that it is the hunger games. Welcome to thunderdome. I have played this game for twenty years and never have gotten above excellent. Good luck to you player. I hope you do better than I did.
It's evaluated every year or sometimes pushed down from direction of the company across the board
It’s every year. It changes at discretion of your boss/manager or you can have a global change like the one last year
If you are wondering about your potential chances are high you aren’t a hipo. Most hipos know they are hipo from day 1 thanks to family connections.
It is default if you’rennot hi-po. Hi-po can be identified at anytime. Just need to have the rights contacts. There are so many nepotism babies who start as hi-po.
Just quit immediately and leave. It’s not worth it.
