I put more time and effort into researching my last car purchase than the richest most successful di-----k in business did with his Twatter deal.

Umm, headcount is down 35% from 2011 to 2021. C&E is down even more. Most of the reduction is from the collapse of business units in Indonesia, Europe, Thailand, Venezuela, and AMBU. So, activity-wise, we haven't really downsized headcount at all.

Everyone in this thread thinks they have better business acumen than literally the richest, most successful man on the planet.
Proud to be working with such visionaries…Really activates my almonds.

Chevron is half the headcount we were 10 years ago. We’re not actively engaging in any exploration ventures (or at least no successful ones) anywhere beyond what assets we can buy. Only “growth assets” are basically Permian, EMD, whatever comes out of the FGP debacle. The last lingering boomers are bailing out for the door and benefits are slowly eroding.

You don’t need a crystal ball to see how this is going to end. The latest “reorganization” of our “traditional assets” under one group is just a way to make the selloff easier once they manage to get the renewable and CCUS business profitable. If you’re not in a position to retire in the next 10 years I’d seriously start considering a plan B, especially petrotechs, We all know there won’t be enough room for all of us on the CCUS side of the business, so options might include moving to a smaller company that’s still committed to actually exploring for and producing hydrocarbons. Just my 2 cents.

Elon has extremely powerful people funding his ventures toward long term societal goals which are not as apparent most discern. There are many dominoes yet to fall. Whether Elon, Trump, Bezos or Soros, no one is coming to halt the rapid decline of modern society. Enjoy life today, the future is uncertain.

I don’t have the highest opinion of MW, but he is smart enough to not spend 44 billion on a company and turn it into Parler.

Elon is a visionary looking at the world from his SpaceX outside the earth and our clown CEO is just liking up from the bottom of the deep well in gulf of Mexico searching for a light at the end of the pipe!

They're particularly enamored with Musk's message, 'do it my way or be fired'.
