Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

It's June, so when is the layoff coming...

Will it be this month or are we rolling till October "home for the holidays"?

This company is taking on huge debt from buying frontier. So I'd imagine a large cut is coming to help offset it. What's everyone's thoughts on this one?

Here comes Stacy…..

Ah yes, nothing says “customer-first leadership” like a two-day offsite celebration of each other while quietly signing off on another wave of cuts. While senior execs give themselves standing ovations for 25 years of “leadership,” frontline teams are left wondering who’s next on the spreadsheet.

We’re told it’s a “pivotal year” full of energy and purpose—just not for the engineers, analysts, and support staff being replaced by slide decks and consultants. AI is “gaining momentum,” but apparently so is outsourcing. And while the C-suite basks in applause for “redefining” the industry, the actual product lags, morale sinks, and competitors surge ahead.

Inviting the former FCC chair known for gutting net neutrality to speak at a leadership summit? That about sums it up. Leadership Connect sounds more like Leadership Disconnect.

What a mo--nic post - rifs to cover new debt? The FTR purchase is NOTHING compared to the wireless debt still on the books. FTR is a rounding error compared to that debt.

Always expect a riff in IT every quarter. GTS couldn't manage a checkbook with with El Capitan helping them.... too many pet projects, too much monetary slight of hand, zero leadership oversight, etc... they are ALWAYS over budget and never have an answer for it. As for everyone else, hit-or-miss.... but be prepared as you just never know.

Nearly a $2B revenue gap to close by YE26. No strategy whatsoever.

@bf it’s even worse than that. “Only” quarterly is a luxury reserved for union members. Management can be riffed monthly. Back in 2018 lost 3 engineers in one fell swoop then 3 more not even a month later.

Wait and see, there is no point in worrying about it. We all know that cuts are coming, just as night follows day. There is nothing anyone can do about it, so why worry, just save the money you have with the posibility it may come. If it doesn't affect you, you will have savings to enjoy.
