Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Left the company, it was the best decision in my life

I was working in a product development team for three years under a thank less greedy selfish Manager. When I was leaving he requested me to stay back, but I decided to move away from the toxic workplace. After two months of my departure I came to know most of my colleagues laid off.

I have better physical and mental health now. It was my best decision in my life.

I left Amazon Web Services to work at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Everyone was telling me OCI was so much better and they were so much happier. I got paired with a manager that was the biggest twit. Man couldn't make a decision to save his life. Team was seriously under staffed and still is. Can't even man the place 24 hours, which is a requirement.

So glad I left.

They are lots of companies, including startups that treat their employees the same way Oracle does, and many treat them worse. It’s naive to think that in general the grass is greener on the other side; however there are exceptions

There’s no social contract in America for many decades now; it’s “employment at will” when employees can be tossed away at anytime regardless of seniority, title, race etc… LE and SC know it and use it to their advantage; with their army of lawyers Oracle can defend themselves; LE has many decades of experience doing this in similar situations and he came ahead still being one of the richest person in the planet. I am not saying this is right, I am saying he will legally get away with it.
LE has the track record and I wouldn’t bet against him.

Looks like because of not understanding that, Oracle is the one having a tough time…. because of not understanding basic Business Mgmt 101. They promoted non business mgmt types that don’t have the core background needed to understand that employees and customers are the reason that everyone else a job which has everything to do with market share.

Unbelievable that a company hates their employees and customers. How is this possible? Old fashioned? Interesting.. No wonder OCI is history. OCI is archaic and can not survive.

Because of Wall Street all publicly traded company’s have to comply with the SEC. There is huge difference in Oracles written. posted, update as required) SEC Code of Ethics vs. actual. SEC violations are serious. SEC is for the protection of shareholders.

The top foreign investigator mentioned in recent article after the Turkey situation for 2nd time that Oracle needed better accounting internal controls…company wide. That is not an off the cuff remark in a published statement by someone of his standing. That is a strong message.
How that could happen is not GAAP. Unbelievable. No wonder they are rebranding. Cleaning the whole place.

Not understanding the problem. Is the problem. Problems are revealing. Truth cannot be hidden.

In this globalized world where technology allows remote work, employees are expendables like lightbulbs and can be replaced by cheaper younger hungrier talent across the world. This old fashioned way thinking Oracle employees are the first priority for Larry and Safra; their first and main priority is Wall Street investors and Oracle stock performance, at the expense of anything else, including employees, customers.
If one doesn’t understand that he will have a tough time at Oracle.

It’s shame how may people he has bullied.
There is no excuse. Can’t understand how these guys didn’t know that if they had developed positive leadership skills and could have built stronger relationships with employees they would have built solid stronger relationships with customer and Oracle would be a different place, today. For customers to hate (Oracke) is the lowest point in a business.

You can’t ever anything foe granted. The billions that Oracle has made for many years is changing. Negative mgmt is weak. They are convinced positive leadership is weak. They will never understand that they have caused this situation. If Oracle was stronger things would be different

Money can only go so far even billions. A few bad acquisitions and an industry collaspse with this economy, if Oracle string and customers were happy this would not be a problem. Go abuse employees and treat customers the same, you work yourself out of job.

I truly believe there will be managers asking former employees in other places for a job. Don’t think a former employee would want let that poison into their company.

The reality is they will soon have to accept that they too will have a lot uncertainty about the future when they could have been set for life.

Oracle management is the weakest link in the company, a disaster and they are to blame for all of this mess that even with the economy etc., Oracle would strong enough if they had known how to manage people. Employees are the greatest assets of healthy companies.

To compare:
If they aren’t …and treated employees poorly calling them commodities then this what you get.
