Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

To those seeking employment elsewhere…

Be patient and don’t be discouraged. It’s going to take some time. There’s a process for collecting and reviewing applicants and it can take several weeks before they start reaching out to candidate. Hang in there and don’t give up hope. Keep sending applications and something come around.

Be patient! The minute they see you worked for AT&T they circular file the resume. I ‘m broke. Help me ma ma.. Wait I’ll be okay. Help me!!! My only skill is pecking on a keyboard and reading emails. I don’t even know how to cut the grass or fix a car..,

It’s The Great Workforce Reset. Mass layoffs for everyone (the president said “they’ll understand” when the pain hits the red & the blue).
Rehire when the economy bounces back without being hindered by DEI. The actual best qualified men will be hired. Women will give up the career bs and stay home making babies.

Make America 1950 again.

All the job posting aggregators are basically scams to collect your contact info and sell to scammers now. You are better off contacting companies directly or people in your network. Giving Indeed or LinkedIn your info will just have your phone lighting up with scammers offering fake jobs and extended warranties.

A lot of people are just doing their own thing these days. Leaving corporate jobs and starting their own business or enterprise. I’ve been working on this myself for the past 2 years and doing pretty well now. I’m about to leave here on my own as I make more money doing this than working here. ATT had their opportunity, maybe if they would have promoted me up or given good raises, I would have been fine where I was, but I started doing my own thing outside of here and now I’m doing well. I highly recommend everyone find their own thing and work on it while collecting the paycheck here. Getting out of the rat race of applying to jobs on LinkedIn is so liberating.

“You want a call back within three days? Select the options that you are black, a veteran and have a disability. You’ll receive an offer by end of week.”

Thank you for the advice Uncle Tom.

The average time it takes to land a good job is; for every $10,000./annually per year, it takes approx. 1 month. So, if you're hoping for a salary of $80k/year, expect to look actively be looking for approx. 8 months. That's the rule of thumb, some more, some less, depends on how lucky you get!

Holy cr-p OP!!!! And here I was doing it all wrong. I was submitting my application and when I didn’t hear back in 48 hours I kept withdrawing my candidacy. If only you would have posted this supreme wisdom sooner.

Entry level is going to be the most realistic option for most.

Thank you Captain Obvious.

The reality is that it is very tough right now to land a job.

Especially for many of the folks here (likely in their 50's), that are/ will be looking.

A lot of uncertainty regarding the economy is leading to employers dragging their feet or even freezing hiring completely.
