Working here is not what it used to be but the alternative (no work at all) is not much better. What if I need more money? What if I get bored? My wife keeps saying I'll worry myself to death and she's probably right. I wish I could relax and enjoy life while I still can.

Retire, wait 6 months, come back as a contractor. More money, less stress, more fun.
Your job NOW is to find something to do in retirement. People told me that once I retired, I wouldn't know how I ever found time to go to work. I didn't believe them, but they were right.
All it takes is one more pandemic like inflation event that jacks up prices permanently by 20% and all your math goes to he-l for retirement a--hat
If you've been here 30 years and are worried about having enough moeny to retire you have done something wrong.
Pick up a hobby? No side gig or dream job ever suggested itself to your mind in your life you want to try now before you develop Alzheimer’s and die? You could even do your research and buy a duplex and become a landlord if you get that bored and that worried about cash flow.
