From what I’ve been told it is changing. The details however I don’t know. I would assume they wouldn’t go lower than 3 months because half of the reason there is a severance package is so we sign away the legal right to be notified and on payroll for 90 days before being let go. The WARN Act. Then again. The company hasn’t cared in a long time.

I remember when they cut severance from 12 to 6 months. A LOT of people were begging to be surplussed that year. That was also back when they would incentivize people to retire by adding years to their age or service to get them to MR75. That was the “carrot” approach to reducing headcount, and it worked very well whenever they wanted to clear out some older people. The company got what they wanted, and employees happily retired. Now it is all “stick” technique. Get out and sign this paper or we will make things worse and worse until you leave on your own. Or, get out or you will lose this or that retirement benefit that was part of the reason you stayed as long as you did.

Severance comes in exchange for agreements from the separating employee: namely, waiving the right to sue, and some approximation of an NDA. With most managers receiving 6-months' pay, or close to that, the vast majority take the deal.

Lowering the deal to anything remotely replicating the tiered structure we've seen trotted out on this forum (many times) will lead to managers turning their back on the severance in favor of potential litigation and a lot of open discussions about things AT&T might prefer to remain confidential, or at least under the radar.

“ I don’t know why this is getting downvoted”

Because it is patently false, and completely made up.

“This is exactly what I heard was coming”

From whom, exactly? The same dimwit that has been saying this here for years, just trying to upset people?

You people need to understand that the manager severance is already below industry standard. They’re not cutting it again. A few months doesn’t make that much of a difference in the bigger picture.

I live in NJ where my 1 week per year of service gives me 25 weeks of severance by law which is greater than the current severance of 24 weeks.

To those saying it’s only when Warn is triggered.

Yea? And they going to lay us off 49 people at a time per month? Thats 2 years of layoffs every single month just to get 1k people off the books.

Your math ain’t mathin. lol, go ahead and try it losers.

Managers are becoming obsolete babysitters. You have a whole gamut of systems that can now track employees.

If there has been a change they need to update HR Onestop bc it still has 50% for those with 13 or more years or service for severance.

Management Team Members
Financial Support: While AT&T previously offered up to six months of base salary, the 2025 framework introduces role-based tiers:

L1 Managers: 4 weeks
L2 Managers: 8 weeks
L3 Managers: 12 weeks
L4 Managers: 16 weeks
L5+ Managers: 20 weeks
This marks a shift from universal terms to role-aligned packages.

Health Benefits: While 2025's specific health coverage details aren't public yet, AT&T has traditionally extended insurance for a set period post-departure. Given the evolving healthcare landscape, employees should watch official announcements for current terms.
