Boeing used to be run by engineers who cared about making good planes. then they bought mcdonnell douglas in the 90s and brought in finance bros who only care about quarterly profits. moved headquarters away from where planes are actually built. faa knew there would be more crashes but gambled they could fix it first... sooooo 346 people died. classic case of what happens when you let MBA types run technical companies. name me one company where those MBAs did anything good for the co, they just grift and line their pockets. Oh, well...

Engineering took a backseat at EM after the merger - 25 yrs.
Government subsidies and tax write-offs took over.
Now it's just grifting on commodities, though subsidies still a good chunk.
Engineering? woof.
