Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Solstice Chemical business

Does anyone have any information on the new spin off company? They are hiring many outsiders. Is this a failure?

@13z Regarding legacies, safety is a huge concern on this Honeywell spin company Solstice Advanced Materials. Last month, CSB issued the investigation of Hydrogen Fluoride (HF) accidents including death at its supposed to be flagship plant in Geismar, LA. Honeywell is the largest producer of HF in the world so it is scary if they could not get their act together. https://www.csb.gov/us-chemical-safety-board-issues-final-report-on-toxic-hydrogen-fluoride-incidents/
Twenty two years ago, Honeywell had 3 incidents including a fatality in 3 weeks at their Baton Rouge, LA plant that was also investigated by CSB. This is also part of Solstice which has ongoing safety issues. https://www.csb.gov/honeywell-chemical-incidents/
Having these accidents may warrant regulatory agencies to have a deeper investigation into all accidents at all Solstice facilities to uncover any systemic issues. Many employees who care about safety in the company have left or have been let go and would be the better source of information on safety matters. If you are investing in Solstice Advanced Materials, can you still trust the leaders there in doing a good job in safety? If I have to invest in the company, I want leaders who truly care about safety as these serious accidents are not their only safety issue.

When are they going to announce the operational chain of command? This info isn’t coming out fluidly.

It probably is too early to tell. If they are able to shed the middle managers and delegaters, there is a decent business underneath. There are 200 positions still open and these are "do work positions". If we dont have the resources internally, then they have to hire outside
