I have an appointment to turn in my laptop on Thursday. I lose access to the CVX network Friday at 3pm. Last day on payroll is July 18th. I have another job lined up. Can I start that during redeployment without it affecting severance or do I have to wait until after the 18th?

@h6 correct! So dont start a new job until the money clears
You guys in the US get a break? ABU left standing are working up until last day on 31 July.
They’re worried that the leftist loons that work in US based offices will graffiti over the corporate artwork and glue their hands to the floor.

I asked this question. I am currently in redeployment. I was told that starting a new job during redeployment would be considered voluntary resignation and I would lose my severance payout. The paychecks you get during redeployment are not severance. They are paychecks because you are still on payroll.
If they told you that you have been severed, you can start at another job. It's exactly what I did. I wouldn't go in and tell them. It's none of their business.
sounds like a question for HR if you want the official answer
Insensitive
You can start on Monday the 23rd.
Once you return your laptop you are effectively severed.
The “redeployment” is effectively a little paid vacation offered by these demons.
Take a vacation!! Seriously just take a break for at least a few weeks, neither Chevron or your next company needs you that badly.
Do we need to come to the office this week to get severance?
Basically right away. Chevron cannot legally hold on to you after they have severed all means of working for them. Pay from now until July 17 is severance, not salary.
Once you get the check
You can start now.
